EU    TRADE

The EU and Ukraine signed the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area (DCFTA) on 27 June 2014 as part of their broader Association Agreement (AA).  In April 2014, in response to the security, political and economic challenges faced by Ukraine the EU unilaterally granted Ukraine preferential access to the EU market until 31 December 2015.

To avoid further destabilisation of the country and in particular to guarantee Ukraine's access to the CIS market under the Ukraine-Russia bilateral preferential regime, in September 2014 the EU postponed implementing the DCFTA until January 2016.

USA     TRADE

Ukrainian companies have been able to export duty-free goods to the United States!

Since the end of July, Ukraine will be able to export to the United States about 5,000 items of goods in bezmitnomu mode. Our country has received this opportunity through the renewal of the program of the General system of preferences (GSP) of the United States, which will last from July 29, 2015 to 31 December 2017.

Our sales representative Nataliya Mykolska explained that this program covers the most common in the production of goods:

• the products of the chemical industry,
• minerals and construction stone,
• jewelry,
• certain types of agricultural produce, etc.

To enjoy the benefits of duty-free regime in the United States by GSP, Ukraine must demonstrate the availability of effective protection of intellectual property rights and labor rights, and Ukrainian companies have to meet the criteria of the rules of origin of the goods.

CANADA  TRADE

Canada and Ukraine have held five rounds of negotiations to date towards a bilateral free trade agreement (FTA). The fifth round was held during the week of September 24, 2012 in Kyiv. On September 17, 2014, during the Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko’s visit in Ottawa, Prime Minister Harper and President Poroshenko discussed progress on the Canada-Ukraine free trade negotiations and directed officials to accelerate their work. During his January 26, 2015 visit to Kyiv, Minister of International Trade Ed Fast jointly announced with Ukrainian Minister of Economic Development and Trade Aivaras Abromavičius that Canada and Ukraine are actively engaged in negotiations toward concluding an FTA as soon as possible. Preparatory work is currently underway by Canada and Ukraine for face-to-face negotiations in the near future. An FTA with Ukraine has the potential to provide increased access for Canadian goods and services to the Ukrainian market, to help address non-tariff barriers, and to help advance other trade and investment issues to facilitate economic relations. An FTA that provides Ukraine with better access to the Canadian market would also be consistent with Canada’s foreign policy objectives for Ukraine, which support Ukraine’s democratic transformation and economic reforms.
